Sussman Blowdown separators are built to ASME Section VIII. The separators accept the flash stream and effluent from the boiler blowdown and reduce the temperature and pressure to insure a safe discharge of water and sludge. Steam flash and pressure are absorbed and pass harmlessly to the outside via a vent. The separator design utilizes a water seal at the outlet which permits the operator to let cold water from the bottom mix with the hot water and boiler steam in the blowdown separator. This reduces outlet temperature to a safe discharge level. These separators require specific plumbing from boiler blowdown valves and require a connection for cold water supply. No electrical hookup is required.
